> Our 3rd anniversary at Hong Kong Disneyland: queues, Premier Access (and why to buy it a day early), World of Frozen, the best rides for adults and kids, food and weather tips.

We spent our **third wedding anniversary at Hong Kong Disneyland**. It's our third anniversary in a row at a theme park, after Universal Studios and Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. We grew up on these cartoons, so this one was special. And it's the closest Disneyland to India, with signs in English and Mandarin.

## Getting there

We stayed on Hong Kong Island. Take the **MTR from Hong Kong station to Sunny Bay**, then the Disneyland Resort line to the park.

## Tickets & reservations

- A ticket costs roughly **₹7,000 per person** (ours were a gift from family who work at Disney).
- **After buying, reserve your date in the Disney app** by scanning your e-ticket. Without a reservation you can't enter.
- **Download the app before you go** for live wait times and show schedules.

## Premier Access: buy it a day early

**Premier Access** lets you skip the queue on a set of rides. It cost us about **₹4,000 per person**. In the Disney app it showed **sold out** on the day. We managed to buy it on the **Hong Kong Disneyland website** at a slightly higher price. **Buy it the day before.**

Is it worth it? We'd say yes. Normal waits were **60–120 minutes**. You've already spent on flights, so don't spend the day standing in lines.

## The queue to get in

We arrived at 11 am on a **Wednesday** (during Chinese New Year) and didn't get in until 12:30 pm. The entry queue stretched about 500 m. **Arrive by 9:30 am**, and consider the **early-entry pass** (very few people buy it).

## Rides we did

- **Frozen Ever After (World of Frozen)**: the land is a beautiful recreation of Arendelle. The normal wait was **110 minutes**, and with Premier Access it was **5–10 minutes**.
- **It's a Small World**: a boat ride through the world, mainly for kids.
- **Mystic Manor**: great graphics and story, but not scary or thrilling. Fine for all ages.
- **Jungle River Cruise**: a big boat with fake animals, about a 40-minute wait. Fun.
- **Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!**: an interactive shooting game, and our favourite. Must try.
- **Iron Man Experience**: a 3D simulator like Transformers or Batman at Universal Studios and Warner Bros. Abu Dhabi. No big drops, so kids can do it.
- **Mickey's PhilharMagic**: a 15-minute 4D show with water and air effects and all the Disney classics. Nostalgic and short to wait for.

The **parade** was pure childhood nostalgia, and the **fireworks** run around 8–8:30 pm.

## Tips

1. **Bring food.** Even a small meal inside is about ₹2,000, with little variety. We carried egg tarts, a sandwich and McDonald's burgers, and only bought coffee (about ₹600).
2. **Carry a water bottle.** There are refill points everywhere.
3. **Carry a jacket from December to early February.** It shows 14–18° but the wind makes it feel colder.
4. With kids you'll need much more time, so arrive at opening.
5. **Rest the next day.** Disneyland involves a lot of walking.
