> A slow day around Victoria Harbour: the Hong Kong Island promenade, the Star Ferry (HK$5), Tsim Sha Tsui clock tower, Avenue of Stars, egg waffles, and why Symphony of Lights underwhelmed us.

After the non-stop energy of Disneyland, we took a break from rides and fireworks. Day four was about breezes and views around **Victoria Harbour**, once a busy trading port and now one of the world's great skylines.

## Breakfast like a local

We started at a busy local café with a queue outside: **tomato soup with noodles**, fried chicken and a toasted sandwich with coffee. That's what a lot of locals eat in the morning, and it was affordable.

## The Hong Kong Island promenade

The harbourfront on the island side is beautifully designed: running and walking paths, seating, food trucks in the evening, a dedicated **pet garden**, and **free drinking-water stations** everywhere. Space is scarce in Hong Kong, so the government has carved out room for everyone. It's calm, cool and perfect for sitting by the water.

## Star Ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui

The **Star Ferry** crosses to Kowloon in **6–7 minutes**. It cost about **HK$5 per person**, and we paid by card (no Octopus needed).

## Tsim Sha Tsui

- The **clock tower**, a reminder of when trains linked Hong Kong to faraway places. The Kowloon side was far more crowded than the island, and the view is better from here.
- A **photo booth** (HK$70) and **LEGOLAND Discovery Centre** if you have kids.
- Lunch at the **K11** food hall: slow-cooked chicken in broth (HK$85). It was pretty bland, with no spices or sauces.
- A bakery with unusual croissants: Shine Muscat cream, matcha, squid ink with black sesame.

## Avenue of Stars

Handprints of Hong Kong film stars along the water and the famous **Bruce Lee statue**. There's also an antique-style boat tour of the harbour.

## Symphony of Lights (8 pm)

A free laser-and-light show across the skyline. Honestly, **it underwhelmed us**: lasers from a few random buildings, some LED screens, and not well coordinated. It's nothing like the Burj Khalifa show. Watch it if you're already there, but don't plan your evening around it.

## Egg waffles

End with a **Hong Kong egg waffle**, crispy outside and soft inside. Original was HK$20, and chocolate chip HK$31.

## FAQs

**How much is the Star Ferry?**
We paid about HK$5 per person one way, by card. The crossing takes 6–7 minutes.

**Is Symphony of Lights worth it?**
It's free at 8 pm, so watch it if you're there, but keep expectations low. It's nowhere near the Burj Khalifa show.
