Our first day in Hong Kong just kept getting better! After exploring the Central district and the world’s longest escalator, we set our sights on the highest point on the island and one of the world’s most vibrant shopping districts.
If you’re planning a trip to Hong Kong, here are the highlights from our journey to Victoria Peak and our evening in Causeway Bay.
Scaling the Heights: The Peak Tram Experience
To get to Victoria Peak, we headed toward the Garden Road Central station. While you can take a bus or taxi, the Peak Tram is a must-do experience.
- The Ride: It’s a funicular railway that climbs at a steep angle, offering a unique perspective of the skyscrapers leaning past you. The journey only takes about 10 minutes, but it’s a ride you won’t forget.
- Pro Tip on Waiting: Be prepared for crowds! Standby lines can easily reach 1 to 1.5 hours. We noticed that having a “Ruby Pass” (or similar fast-track access) can significantly cut down your wait time.
- The Sky Terrace 428: We made sure to book tickets for the Sky Terrace. It’s the highest viewing platform in Hong Kong. Even on a slightly foggy day, the panoramic views of the Hong Kong Island skyline and Victoria Harbour are breathtaking.
Causeway Bay: Hong Kong’s Most Vibrant Hub
As the sun began to set, we headed to Causeway Bay. If you’re looking for the “happening” side of Hong Kong, this is it! The energy here is electric—full of lights, people, and endless shopping.
Times Square & The “Hollywood” Vibe
We visited Times Square, a massive 16-story mall dedicated to retail and dining. Standing outside, watching the red taxis line up against the backdrop of neon signs and towering buildings, it felt exactly like a scene from a Hollywood movie.
Tech Stop: The DJI Store Experience
As content creators, we couldn’t resist stopping by the DJI Store. If you are looking to upgrade your gear, Hong Kong is a great place to browse.
- Our Pick: We ended up buying the DJI Mic 2 (priced at $2,099 HKD) to ensure our future vlogs have the best audio quality possible.
- Price Check: We also checked out the latest drones—the DJI Mini 4 Pro and the DJI Air 3S. The store is a tech-lover’s paradise, but give yourself at least an hour to truly explore everything they have!
Sweet Endings at Bakehouse
Before wrapping up our day, we headed to the famous Bakehouse. If you’ve heard the hype about their sourdough egg tarts, believe it! It was the perfect treat to fuel us up after a long day of walking.
Final Thoughts
Day one in Hong Kong was a perfect mix of history, scenic views, and modern city life. From the peaceful heights of the Peak to the organized chaos of Causeway Bay, this city has a rhythm like no other.
Coming Up Next: Get ready, because our next vlog is all about our trip to Disneyland! We’ll be sharing our full journey, ride reviews, and essential pro tips.
