Aquaria KLCC sits right in the city centre near the Petronas Towers. It's a great half-day with family, and a good plan for a hot or rainy afternoon.

Booking tip
Buying online is cheaper, but you have to book at least a day in advance. Otherwise it's the counter admission rate.
What we saw
- Stingrays, which look scary up close. (We'd touched one in Dubai!)
- Baby sharks swimming right up to the glass.
- Reef tanks with colourful fish, including the blue tang, aka Dory.
- The spotted garden eel, which lives buried in the sand on the sea floor and bobs up and down. Strange and fascinating.
- The flooded forest with giant arapaima and huge catfish. They're so big you'll wonder if it's a crocodile.
- A massive lobster with very long antennae, plus a 3D model display.
The best part: the shark tunnel
A travelator carries you slowly through an underwater tunnel while sharks, stingrays and a giant turtle glide right over your head. You just stand and watch. We counted two, three, four sharks at once.
There's also a photography point near the exit if you want a souvenir picture.
More KL: 3 days in Kuala Lumpur · Batu Caves.
