Not a travel vlog this time. We're replacing our travel camera setup with the new DJI Osmo Pocket 4P, imported from Japan through a friend. Here's the unboxing and first test. (Prashant shot the intro on our Pocket 3.)

Which combo?
There's a standard combo and a vlog combo. We took the vlog combo.
First feel
It's bulkier than the Pocket 3, with a big head, and felt a bit delicate. Prashant tied on a lanyard so it doesn't slip.
In the box (vlog combo)
- The camera, a mount adapter and a mini tripod stand.
- A pouch.
- A mini remote screen, a new, unique piece that lets you control the camera from a distance.
- A clip-on fill light for the back, with brightness buttons and cool white / warm modes. In a dark room it lit up faces nicely, far better than nothing.
- A DJI Mic 2 transmitter. We expected the Mic 3 (more pro), but the Mic 2 is fine. It comes with a case and magnetic clips in black and white, so you can match your clothes.
- Separate charging cables: the mic and light don't share one USB-C charge, so you'll carry a few wires. There's also a USB-C cable for laptops.
Controls
- A zoom button and a custom button.
- The 5D joystick moves left, right, up, down and diagonally.
- A memory card slot with a cover.
Zoom test
- Daylight: from 3x up to 12x on a far-off building, the quality stayed nearly lossless.
- Face zoom from 3x to 12x.
- Low light: in a completely dark area, zoom through 3x, 4x, 5x, 7x, 10x and 12x was still very usable. Low-light performance is very good.
Price
About ₹63,500 in Japan.
We haven't tested D-Log 2 yet. That's coming on our next trip.
