Mong Kok at night is crowded, loud and full of energy. The Ladies' Market (Tung Choi Street), right by Mong Kok MTR, is the place for souvenirs.

What to buy (and prices)

  • Souvenirs at HK$10 each: magnets, luggage tags, chopstick sets. We bought several.
  • Small pouches: about 10 for HK$100, perfect gifts for family (mobile pouches for the mums!).
  • Keychains: around 11 for HK$100.
  • Paintings from about HK$100.
  • Gua sha stones, face massagers, kettles and tea sets (lovely, but bulky to carry home).
  • Plenty of first copies of bags, plus electronics further along.

Bargain hard

Very hard. We got something quoted at HK$50 for HK$10. Start low and be ready to walk away.

Eat: claypot rice at K11

Head to the K11 basement food hall for claypot rice, one of Hong Kong's famous dishes. We had chicken and mushroom with soy, chilli oil and spring onion. It's not spicy, and perfect on a cold evening.

Bonus

There's a Tesla showroom nearby. Prices were roughly half of what the same models cost in India.
